About the Committee
A Heritage Rooted in South Georgia
In the mid-1980s, Georgia farmers realized they had something truly special. The sweet, mild flavor of the Vidalia onion was unlike anything else on the market—and it was no accident. It was the result of a rare combination of soil, water, and climate found only in a small pocket of South Georgia.
To protect, promote, and preserve this one-of-a-kind crop, the Vidalia Onion Committee was formed.
